Vrijthof, as the square is called, was actually the very first place I went to when I was in Maastricht.
Maastricht is a sweet and cute dutch small city, just across the border from Germany. It’s pretty much a perfect day trip destination from Cologne, but also well worth a visit if you’re in the Netherlands. Maastricht has everything you need: a river to chill by, a few cute churches, a pretty big park with a really cool view at the end and a cute centre with a shopping mile and a candy shop 😛 ;D
