A view of the vast ocean and Cancún in the distance. Punta Sur is located at the opposite end of the island from where the ferry from Cancún to Isla Mujeres docks, and is therefore very quiet and not very busy. The views to the right and left of the island, as well as back to Cancún and the open sea, are fantastic and another reason why I like Isla Mujeres. However, it’s not that easy to get there, as neither buses nor hitchhiking are that easy on Isla Mujeres, and it’s a bit too far to walk. In addition, it can get quite hot in the sun during the day. Nevertheless, I was fortunate and was given a lift both ways.

Go or not? Definitely go. Punta Sur is a truly beautiful and peaceful place that offers a wonderful view of the coast and the sea. Only the journey there and back might take a while – as I said, there aren’t many vehicles on the road. Or you could hire something for the day 😉
