As in every city in Mexico, I also visited the local market in Oaxaca. Of course, there is never just one, but I usually just go to the biggest one, let myself drift and enjoy the atmosphere and the vibe. Simply because I love the markets in Mexico. They are colourful, chaotic, crowded and you can soak up so much Mexican culture, buy something cheap, lose yourself, get in touch with locals and so much more.
The market in Oaxaca is no exception. I went in, was swallowed up and happily spat out again. For all those who are not yet familiar with Mexican markets: you can really get EVERYTHING here and it’s really cheap. Food, clothes, shoes, jewellery, tech stuff – although you should double check here – but everything!!!
And as long as you can bargain a little, you can also get anything with a fixed price on it cheaply – so it’s still cheap, but locals simply get certain things cheaper anyway 😉
There or not? If you’ve ever been to a Mexican market, it’s up to you. If not, then go with you! Mexican markets are an experience in themselves 😀
