What: El Boquerón
Where: near San Salvador
Opening hours: 10 am to 5 or 6 pm, I think

Website: there isn’t an official one
El Boquerón is a volcanic crater within a volcanic crater.
That probably doesn’t just sounds pretty cool in itself, but also suggests a short or long hike. In fact, it’s extremely easy to get to the entrance of the Boquerón by bus – where you then have to pay a small entrance fee – and from there it’s a really easy and relatively short walk to the crater.
Here, you’re basically looking down into the crater of a volcano covered in greenery with another small volcano with a crater at it’s. A sight that I don’t think you can see in many places. To my own surprise though it’s far less spectacular than expected.
Go or not? Yes, I’d still go, because a volcanic crater within a volcanic crater… It’s kind of cool 😀
