The market La Aurora in San Miguel de Allende is a place where art of all kinds is exhibited and sold. Here you can find designer furniture, valuable antiques, paintings and sculptures. Definitely higher-priced, but also very impressive in various cases.
I discovered the market while researching San Miguel de Allende. It’s not a classic tourist attraction in San Miguel de Allende, but I still had some time and wanted to see things that were a bit more local or just really cool.
What I particularly liked about this market was that it reminded me more of a huge studio where various artists exhibit their work, which is then sold for a price that corresponds to the value of the work. This is not so common in Mexico.
Personally, what I liked best were the paintings by a man who was actually sitting in his studio and had very expressive paintings standing and hanging everywhere.

Go or not? I found the market La Aurora very interesting because it was simply something completely different to what you usually find as a tourist in Mexico. Nevertheless, I would definitely visit the market last – unless you are interested in art and/or want to get a painting or other work of art for your home – because the market is defined solely by its artistic value.
