Art and the Reforma are part of the city and the cityscape of Mexico City. I myself have walked and jogged up and down this street countless times, as it led from my hostel to the city centre during my first stay in Mexico City and from my hostel to Chapultepec. Chapultepec is a huge park in Mexico City, which itself is a neighbourhood, but that in another post. Anyway, I used to go jogging here regularly for a while, which is why I always came along the Reforma towards Chapultepec.
During these jogs, or on my way to the centre, I often passed art that was set up on the pavement along the Reforma. Whether it was thoughtful sculptures or installations – such as the children’s shoes – which were nevertheless mostly kept in cheerful colours or something else. My personal highlight, for which I actually walked from the hostel to the Reforma – my hostel was very close to the Reforma – was the art project, where lots of hearts were set up along the Reforma. And yes, I only photographed my favourite hearts here. They were actually set up for quite a long time and it was just lovely to walk or jog past these sweet hearts with the thoughtful and beautiful pictures on them in the morning.
Go or not? You have to go down the Reforma one way or another, because without it you can’t say you’ve been to Mexico City – to my mind 😀 So, if you’re lucky, you also see some art 😉
