Okay, if I’m really precise, it’s actually just the Avenida del Morro and some of the side streets near Playa Zicatela – there’s always jewellery, bags and souvenirs for sale in the evenings. Like a few Mexicans sit outside with tables and basically sell stuff to tourists. It wasn’t my favourite place to go shopping, but it’s there.
The Avenida del Morro was exactly where I needed to go to see what Puerto Escondido looks like away from the beautiful beaches. The area was quite differen and sometimes I even had to laugh a little – anyone who understands Spanish and/or knows Mexico will know which pictures I mean – but mostly it was interesting how big the discrepancy was. I mean, I doubt that anyone but somebody slightly crazy like me will ever get lost there because everyone is focused on the beaches, surfing, their holiday or chilling out or whatever. Nevertheless, I found the excursion extremely interesting. And of course I also went to the centre/town of Puerto Escondido, but… between you and me, it looked like any random Mexican town near a beach. Avenida del Morro, on the other hand, was somehow interesting. Because it was so authentic and without filters. Like the beach is the same, but I just found it interesting to see what a beach resort in Mexico looks like when you leave the beach. And that’s exactly what I got.
Go or not? No. You don’t have to. Well, you’re very welcome to, but if you’re not like me and don’t like taking photos of these kind of places, then you won’t find it interesting. So take a look at the pictures and maybe you can guess which ones made me grin or laugh 😊
